Scribe continues to be an important tool in the quest to improve my writing and I have been using the service since February of this year (before they even had an affiliate program which I am now a participant in). I suspect many users, like me, utilize Scribe through the WordPress plugin. So, until the new features go live they won’t be exposed to them. I wanted a sneak peak and spent an hour or so in the web interface today. Here’s what I found out.
Keywords: The current version of Scribe has done a great job helping me tighten up my writing by analyzing the copy as I’ve written it and suggesting keywords. The beta version goes a step further and lets me do keyword research before I even start writing the post. I used to think keywords only mattered to Google. That’s just not the case. As I follow the suggestions Scribe makes, I find my writing tightens up and becomes more readable. I believe this is because the key concepts of the post are stressed more clearly.
Keyword Research: After typing in the topic of my post(image above) Scribe returns the keyword combinations (image below) I may want to consider including in the post. While this will obviously improve the Google ranking of the post, let’s think one step further. These are the terms my potential customers are searching for. By following the suggestions Scribe makes, the post becomes more useful and findable to the desired audience. Nothing dark and underhanded in that equation, the way I see it.
Link love: Inbound links to your site are good. There’s just no way around that. Google likes them and the links bring real traffic to your site. Getting those links on the appropriate sites can be tough, because you may not even know how to track down “the right sites.” Now, I will be letting Scribe do the hard work for me.
My example: In this example (image above) the post with key word “social media” would benefit from external linking at 50 different sites(probably more but after 50 does it matter?). Also, the results tell me that ten of my own posts could benefit by being cross linked to this post. Finally, Scribe even points me to 28 Twitter users who I could benefit by getting to retweet the content (can’t comment on this part as I just glanced at it).
My results: Use the links recommended (image above) I found some interesting sites. Not only do I plan to spend more time reading at these sites but I will also leave comments that will get me the links back to this site I desire. Again, nothing dark and underhanded, just smart easy to use tools to assist me in doing my blogging job better.
